Sub: Inviting Suggestions for Indigenization and Import Substitution of Textile Inputs
Dear Sir / Madam,
This is to inform that the Government is currently in the process of identifying key products and inputs for indigenization and import substitution, with a view to strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and reducing dependence on imports.
In this context, MATEXIL has been advised by the Ministry of Textiles to compile and submit industry inputs, particularly in the areas of Manmade Fibre Textiles and Technical Textiles.
Members are therefore requested to provide their valuable suggestions on inputs that may be considered for indigenization. The focus areas include, but are not limited to:
- Fibres (including speciality and high-performance fibres).
- Dyes and Chemicals(including functional and technical textile chemicals).
- Textile Machinery and Equipment (including components, accessories, and advanced processing technologies).
You may kindly indicate:
- Specific products / inputs currently being imported.
- Challenges faced in domestic availability or production.
- Potential for local manufacturing / scaling up.
- Any policy support required (e.g., duty structure, incentives, technology support, etc.)
Your inputs will play a crucial role in enabling the Council to present a comprehensive and impactful representation to the Government.
You are requested to kindly share your suggestions at the earliest, preferably by June 20, 2026 on the email ID: ed@matexil.org
We solicit your support and cooperation in the matter and look forward to your active participation and valuable inputs.
Thanking You
A.Ravi Kumar
