Sub: Request for Inputs on Opening up of Technical Textiles Tariff Lines under the India-Canada CEPA

Dear Sir / Madam,

As you are aware, the India-Canada are negotiating for signing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the negotiations are in the final stage.

In this connection, the Ministry of Textiles has sought inputs from the Council regarding the possibility of opening up of 47 tariff lines of which 25 lines are pertaining to Technical Textiles falling under the purview of our Council. (Click to Download).

In this context, members are requested to provide their views on these 25 tariff lines. Your views may be on the following options:

(a) To put these tariff lines under the Exclusion List.

(b) To open up for import in a phased manner.

(c) To open up for import with Entry into Force (EIF).

Please send your valuable inputs/ views on Email ID chetna@matexil.org by Friday, 14th August 2026, as the matter is time-bound, to enable the Council to submit a consolidated response to the Ministry within the stipulated timeline.
