Sub: Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste – Gist and FAQs
Dear Sir / Madam,
The European Union has introduced Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR), laying down sustainability, environmental and labelling requirements for packaging throughout its life cycle, including its production, use and end-of-life management.
The Regulation entered into force on February 11, 2025, and its general provisions are applicable from August 12, 2026.
In this regard, we are pleased to enclose herewith the following for the information and guidance of members:

Members are requested to carefully go through the enclosed FAQs and familiarise themselves with the applicable requirements under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, particularly those relevant to packaging used in the export of textile products to the European Union.
Members are also advised to assess the implications of the Regulation on their existing packaging practices and to engage with their EU buyers/importers, wherever necessary, regarding the allocation of responsibilities and compliance requirements & send us your suggestions, if any.
