Sub: Opening up of Manmade Fibre Textile Tariff Lines under the Review of the India–Korea CEPA

Dear Sir / Madam,

As you are aware, the India–Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed in January 2010, is currently under review by the Government of India.

In this connection, the Ministry of Textiles has sought inputs from the Council regarding the possible opening up of 13 HS lines pertaining to Manmade Fibre (MMF) Textiles. The details of these tariff lines may be accessed at the link below:

At present, these 13 HS lines are included in the Exclusion List under the India–Korea CEPA Agreement.

In this context, members may consider the following options:

Continue all 13 HS lines in the Exclusion List;

OR

Consider phased reduction of duties over a period of 7 years.

Members are requested to kindly provide their valuable inputs at the earliest at chetna@matexil.org, on or before August 7, 2026 positively to enable the Council to submit a consolidated response to the Ministry within the stipulated timeline.
